I consider myself a newbie to organic gardening although I have tried to refrain from using chemicals in my gardening practices for several years now. I do not use pesticides, but I confess that I have applied some types of fertilizes and have used some additives with some plantings. Similar to my eating practices, I try to go with fresh, non-processed and "organic" as a preference, but I can't say that I'm purely organic.
I like to think of organic gardening as a way of working with nature rather than against it. Learning from personal experience, it takes a lot of time, effort and expense to work against nature so maybe organic is a solution.
I hope that this course makes be a better and more thoughtful gardener. I hope to learn practical methods I can realistically implement to be more successful in gradually growing more of the food I eat.
