TURTLEHEAD   Chelone lyonii "Hot Lips"

One of my favorite perennials.  I am a PLAN GEEK when it comes to perennial plant material.  I am always on the hunt for something new, exciting, COLD HARDY, long bloomer that the pollinators love.  Oh... and extra points if the foliage is "neat and tidy".   This is why the Turtlehead is one of my favorites.  The spring foliage is neat/sturdy/upright.  The late summer blooms are bright pink and continue long into October.   And the bees love it!

I had the good fortune of working for a grower of dwarf conifers and Japanese maples.  As my contacts in the industry grew, so did my exposure to beautiful gardens and very helpful gardeners.  Learning from them, and a lot of trail-and-error on my part, is how I gathered my experience.

Some would say that my gardens are full and I don't have space for another plant.  But then I find something I want to try and literally make circles around the house carrying the pot... looking for a spot!
