I too am planning to grow Shitakiis... I have lots of unused logs that I bought for firewood but I've been told that once the wood is dead it is no longer suitable for Shitakki inoculation, that you need relatively fresh, still moist logs
that you can inoculate before competing fungi have a chance to colonize the wood.
I have grown Oyster mushrooms in coffee grinds very easily in the past, only to find out that I wasn't a big fan of them. I know I like shitakiis, but have never had winecaps. I dont see them in the farmer's markets around here. Are they fairly common in your area?
