I'm Kathryn, from upstate New York outside Albany.  I'm a lawyer and a librarian by training, and I love learning new subjects.  I started gardening my home's yard about five years ago, naturally transitioning from a suburban, around-the-edges style to taking a more native, replace-the-lawn-with-beneficial-plants approach over the years.  I'm currently pursuing a Horticulture certificate from a nearby botanical garden, and the class on soil that I recently took especially made me aware of how much more I can do than just plant flowers that please me.  I'm looking forward to learning about permaculture.
