Hi! My name is Abigail and I am currently living in Philadelphia, but have been traveling the west coast the past couple of months visiting farms and friends. I have been farming vegetables and flowers with various farms in California and Texas for the past 4 years. In college I studied ecology and environmental ethics at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, it was during this time I discovered my love for gardening and prairie conservation. After college I moved to Austin, Texas where I did a year of service with AmeriCorps teaching gardening in after school programs. This is how I began my journey as a farmer and teacher and ultimately lead me to California.
I have some experience with using the basic principles of permaculture and biodynamic farming within the setting of production farms particularly in Sonoma County. I have found creating hugelkulturs to be incredibly effective in conserving water in the Northern California climate. I am hoping to learn more about permaculture with the goal of consulting and teaching these practices in the future (alongside farming).
