During my decade in Manhattan I kept a jungle of spider plants and other calming indoor Flora. One-year looking out my kitchen window I saw on the roof story below me a kiddie pool that had been tossed there and forgotten. Aided and abetted by occasional organic matter surreptitiously tossed by myself, seeds sprouted, more insects and birds visited and before long a mini-ecosystem ala guerilla garden was thriving!
