Hello All!

My name is Andrea, I’m a practicing massage therapist and avid gardener from Miami. COVID-19 heavily impacted my work and ability to travel and practice safely. I have since come to live full time with my partner in Ithaca, New York and am using this sabbatical to dedicate myself to cultivating my other passion: helping to bring the bloom.

Everything I’ve learned has been small scale, picking up things intuitively from working in the tropics, fascination with bioremediation and mycology, cultivating in little community gardens, and simply by being surrounded by wonderful folks far more educated than I. But learning superficially or through osmosis has its limits, and I’m excited to hit the books.

Similarly to my holistic education to the human body, I have been wanting to learn an ethical system and organization that aligns with my ideals and enables me to also realize design goals. I consider myself a novice gardener with aspirations of scaling up quickly and becoming a responsible land steward. I am thrilled to throw myself fully into a new educational challenge. With a little luck, I was delighted to discover that Cornell was offering these courses and here I am!

Welcome to this learning community and and the Finger Lakes. I hope we cross paths someday; probably post-pandemic.
