Greetings educators,
Winter just doesn't want to let go this year, but I hear that warm weather is finally coming later this week! We are all ready for it.
One of the lessons this week is about starting seeds. Growing your own plants from seeds is one of the most rewarding gardening activities you can do - it saves you so much money compared to buying plants, and I still get so excited each spring when my seeds start sprouting.
My friends at Fruition Seeds, a small seed company in nearby Naples, NY, have a fantastic array of seed starting videos and other resources on their website. This year they are offering their entire Seed Starting Academy videos for free due to the pandemic. If you've never started seeds before, or have had issues in the past, please take a look at their helpful videos and webinars:

This week's exercise has three parts: a planting schedule, a year 1 plan and a year 2 plan, so be sure to give yourself enough time to complete each part of the exercise this week.
I'm looking forward to reviewing your draft garden designs over the next few days. If you haven't had a chance to complete your map or journal entry, you can still submit them until midnight on Thursday night.
Have a great week!
Chrys
